Hello!

I know it's been awhile since we've updated the website, but I just wanted to let everyone know that the spring programs have been added to the "Calendar" section of the website. If anyone has any specific questions regarding the programs, you can call or e-mail us using the "Contact" section of the website. Please also note that all registration for programs must go through the respective recreation board.

Spring is Approaching..

Spring is fast approaching (hopefully, anyway!), which means that we will be resuming rec board programs and the Easter Seals therapeutic riding program. Easter Seals is set to kick off on Wednesday March 24th. We are expecting more kids for this session, which means we are in need of volunteers! Please contact Joanne or Andrayea if you are interested in volunteering.

I will be posting all of the spring activities soon, and promise that new pictures will be added in March! We have lots of great new pictures that we're excited to put up!

IMPORTANT EASTER SEAL UPDATE

Due to some recent changes, the Easter Seals program will not start until September 30th. If anyone else is interested in helping out, please contact Joanne or I (Andrayea). We hope to make this exciting new program a great success!

Fall Programs & Updates

The end of summer is nearing, so we're gearing up for our fall programs! We had a busy summer with camps, our 2nd annual block party, horse shows, our barn show, and, of course, lessons! Look for some new pictures from these programs coming up within the near future. We thank everyone who made these events possible!

We're excited to announce that we will starting a therapeutic riding program through the Easter Seals this September. There will be an important informational meeting on Wednesday September 2 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. for volunteers who want to help with this program. We will need people to lead the horses and also side walkers. The program will begin on September 16 and continue every Wednesday until December 16, with the exception of November 25. If you're interested in enrolling your child in the program, please call 591-7027.

The following is a list of our fall programs:

September 2: Easter Seal Therapeutic Riding Volunteer Meeting (7:00 - 9:00 p.m.)

September 16 - December 16: Easter Seal Therapeutic Riding (Wednesdays from 4:30 - 8:30 p.m.)

*Please note that there will be no session on November. 25*

September 19 - November 7: West Shore & Mechanicsburg Rec Board Combined Youth Horsemanship six-week course (Saturdays 1:00 - 2:30 p.m.)

*Please not that there will be no session on October 10*
Children will learn the basics of horsemanship and riding during this course.

Spring Update

We’ve had a busy start to the spring at TELC, but we are happy that so many people are interested in getting involved with our programs! First off, we would like to thank everyone that came out to the pony rides on May 2nd benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We raised $440! We appreciate everyone who helped with the program and everyone who brought their children out!

In addition to our spring programs, we’ve also been busy with this year’s show season. We’ve had two Blue and Gray shows so far this year and we are proud to say that we’ve had a few first places and other very good ribbons already! We’re looking forward to the upcoming Blue and Gray shows along with the Perry County schooling shows. However, we hope they’re not as rainy as the last show!

We would also like to regrettably mention that Poco’s Classy Lassy “Classy” was put down last Thursday due to the amount of tumors she had on her body. She has been completely blind in her right eye from a tumor for the last couple years, but still did lessons up until this winter. Classy was a 28 year-old appaloosa mare that was born under Joanne’s care. Her father was Critter (Poco Be Royal, who also passed away this winter) and Millie, who was the mother of a lot of our horses at TELC. Classy was by far one of the best lesson horses that Joanne has ever had and we will miss her terribly. She led a lot of children to championships at shows and taught many people to learn how to ride. She also was used for therapeutic riding, proving that she was an excellent horse. There are pictures of her already on the website, but we hope to make a memorial for her within the next few weeks.

We have lost three horses within the last six months due to age-related problems, but we miss them all dearly. Critter, Sneakers, and Classy all made huge impacts on the students of Total Equine Learning Center and we will never forget them.

Introduction to riding in a one lesson format- grooming, saddling, and mounted exercises

$20 donation per child, with all proceeds benefitting St. Jude Children Hospital
In additon to pony rides, a coloring contest, petting zoo, and games will be provided!

Hello again,

So I put up a temporary portion on the website (titled "Vote") where I asked for your opinion on how you want TELC photos displayed. A bit surprisingly, you voted unanimously in favor of the new slide show style. As such, all TELC photos are now displayed in slide show format.
